YES Network President Election (2021-2023)

Ms. Elyvin Nkhonjera

Ms. Elyvin Nkhonjera is now PROTECT Country Coordinator of Hivos Southern Africa. She is a Women’s Rights Activist, Facilitator, and Researcher active in transparency and extractives, artisanal and small-scale mining, human rights and governance, advocacy, and policy analysis. She is a specialist in project management and gender programming and is experienced in implementing FCDO, EU, Norwegian Aid, UK Aid, and Australian Aid funded projects.

Before her current position, she has served as Resource Governance Coordinator for Oxfam in Malawi from November 2015 to June 2020, Mining Governance Project Coordinator for ActionAid International Malawi from April 2014 to November 2015, Programme Officer for Environmental Advocacy and Justice for Centre for Environmental Policy and Advocacy (CEPA) from December 2012 to March 2014, Environmental Inspector for Government of Malawi, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Management, Environmental Affairs Department from May 2012 to November 2012, Project Officer (Community Economic Improvement Project) (Intern) for Centre for Environmental Policy and Advocacy from March to May 2012, Schools Development Officer for Link Community Development, Dedza from February 2009 to August 2010, and Secondary School Teacher for Ministry of Education, Bwaila Secondary School, Lilongwe from September 2008 to February 2009. She also has served as voluntary Project Officer for Society for Rural and Youth Development “students against Child labour” from March 2005 to August 2008.

Ms. Elyvin Nkhonjera is a member of Malawi Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (MWEITI), a member of Publish What You Pay Coalition Board, a chairperson for Land Network of Malawi (LANDNET), and a chairperson for Young Earth Scientists (YES) Network Africa and a National Representative for YES Network Malawi. She received the 2018 Award scholar for Australian Awards Scholarships on Local and Social Economic Development in Extractives.
